Cawthron essential laboratory services at Level 3

Thank you to all our customers for your continued understanding and collaborative approach over the past several weeks as we have continued to deliver our essential laboratory services during lockdown.

As we maintain Level 3 and put in place our plans for Level 2, we are continuing to follow strict rostering and physical distancing, as well as maintaining a weekly self-auditing process to ensure we are adhering to robust health and safety requirements.

Turnaround times

We have increased our capacity as more businesses are recognised as essential and the lab teams are working hard to deliver improved turnaround times which are currently as follows:

Natural Toxins Testing

  • Marine/Biotoxin: The Alert Levels have not affected our ability to deliver our business as usual service within standard timeframes.
  • Freshwater/Phytoplankton: The team is working on clarifying which Level 2 services will be able to resume. More details will be sent to customers when finalised.

Food Chemistry and GMP Testing
Our teams are back on board and working through any backlogs. We expect to be delivering to standard turnaround times by the end of May.

Microbiology
Our microbiology laboratory is delivering all business as usual services to standard timeframes.

General information

Courier delivery delays: You may be aware that courier delivery companies are dealing with a much higher volume of packages since we moved to Alert Level 3. While they are working on improving their capacity, we have noted that there have been some delays in samples being delivered. Please keep that in mind if sending perishable or time-sensitive items.

Samples reception opening under Alert Level 2: When we reach Alert Level 2, customers can continue to drop off samples at our sample reception outdoor box, and our preference is that you use this box whenever possible. The reception area will be open for customer visits, however we ask that all visitors maintain safe physical distance and respect all signs and requests.
